It Wasn't Meant to Be...

...but I am sad, nonetheless. Elliott Yamin was (foolishly) voted off tonight. Richmond will always love him!

How To Make A Dog Happy....

"A bone to the dog is not charity. Charity is the bone shared with the dog, when you are just as hungry as the dog."

Haystacks

Yesterday, as I was looking out of our upstairs window, the sun was shining perfectly over a particular section of the woods behind our house.

So, I ran downstairs to get the camera before the light changed. Did I make it in time? No. But, these still show a perfectly gloomy winter's day on our land.

Perhaps, as the seasons change, I'll post some more.

P.S. A little bonus at the end...

Welcome To Our Home

We've recently moved out to the country. Out here, we have several animals, but few neighbors (for now, anyway.) And last night, we had some late-night (2 AM) visitors . They've stopped by before, but this time they stayed a little longer.

Our outside dog, Zillah, alerted me that something was out there. Because I couldn't find a flashlight, and was home alone, I decided to send out the reinforcements, in the form of our two young dogs, Elzie and Berlioz.

Bad idea. All I heard was a lot of growling and barking, and all that I could see was a bit of frantic running and chasing. I decided that I had better bring them back in until I could investigate a little further. With just Zillah still out there, I tried to determine what else was there. I could hear her frantic barking, and in response - some sort of low gutteral growling??

Okay, time to get out the spotlight, this is getting serious. I quickly discovered that the low growl I had been hearing was really more like a..... moo?? And yes, there were three very large cows standing fairly close to our back patio, happily grazing on our already growth-challenged grass.

With the dogs inside, all I could do was wait; I was sure they'd moove on eventually.
